Description

In this ultimate Pearl Harbor and Oahu adventure you will not only get an in depth land tour or Pearl Harbor, you will also see it from the air just as the Japanese may have on the “day of infamy” in 1941. As you head out to visit the Arizona Memorial your land portion of the Pearl Harbor Explorer Tour will be guided by a WWII expert who will deliver a stirring historical narration on the attack.

The USS Arizona Memorial is a solemn site that rests above the sunken battleship below. Experience the attack first hand as you view the official Pearl Harbor film which contains actual footage taken of the attack. Then, board the Navy Shuttle to see the “Black Tears of the Arizona”, as you remember the 1,177 men still entombed in the Arizona Battleship.

Next it’s on to the world’s most impressive war vessel, the USS Missouri battleship affectionately known as the “Mighty Mo”. You will discover a piece of history as you tour the Battleship’s decks; witnessing the ship’s massive guns and the deck on which the Japanese surrendered to the US Naval forces.

Your Pacific Aviation museum experience begins in Hanger 37, a 42,000 square foot former seaplane hangar that survived the December 7, 1941 attack. You will view a 10-minute movie covering the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, including historic footage. Next enter a 25,000 square foot exhibition area and observe authentic Japanese war planes including the infamous “zero” aircraft. Many of the exhibits relate real life stories of the attack both before and after will leave you spellbound.

The helicopter air portion of your Pearl Harbor Explorer tour will begin with a beautiful view of serene Keehi Lagoon as you fly out of Honolulu Airport toward Historic Pearl Harbor. Once over the US Naval Station Pearl Harbor you will be able to look down at the Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri Battleship and various other Trident Class submarines, aircraft carriers and battleships. (Variety depends on US Navy docking periods and harbor operation schedule).uss arizona

Your flight continues over Honolulu Harbor where you will see Aloha Tower, once the tallest structure on the island, as well cruise ships from distant ports. Next is downtown Honolulu, featuring the only royal palace U.S. soil. Above the city lies Punchbowl crater, home to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The tour carries on above Ala Moana Beach Park, and follows the Ala Wai canal all the way to famous Waikiki Beach.

Just past Waikiki is the Diamond Head Crater where you will enjoy a impressive perspective of this iconic landmark. Your aerial tour continues above the rugged and picturesque south shore Oahu coast where you will fly over Hanauma Bay, Makapuu Point and Sea Life Park before turning inland and over the stunning Nuuanu Pali mountain range and Mount Olomana on your return to the heliport.
